Apart from the chat rooms, instant messengers and electronic mails created for communication and dialogue beyond turf are the emerging innovations that help man build opportunities for interaction.  The need for a personalized and human face aspect of building online communities is slowly changing the technological landscape of the Internet.

Blogs are made to welcome the insights and opinions of all and therefore, should not be written to sound intimidating or too formal. This kind of blog is a sure way to put off the readers. In the basics of blogging, conversational tone would be more appropriate to reach the desired audience. continue reading…

Blogging has become one of the most popular ways to get your viewpoints of society a told to millions of people.  However, this form of self-expression has moved into the 21st century through the means of web video.  It used to be that when a person was to make a blog, they would do so only in text and picture format.  And this format became extremely popular, and even an obsession for some individuals.  However, since the introduction of high-speed Internet, and the wide availability of these broadband connections, millions of people have moved off of their keyboards and onto their digital camcorders. continue reading…

Having a blog can be a great way for you to practice your writing and to allow others to find out more about you and to get to know you better. Moreover, in this day and age of Internet businesses, a blog can be a great way for you to make money.

In a system called affiliate marketing, you can get commissions whenever people click on ads that are posted on your site. In this way, you not only enjoy writing, you also get to make money from it. Of course, the only way that you can get money through this method is to get more visitors to your blog, and to have great content that everyone will want to avail of.

One way for you to get more visitors is to find an email group that you can use to promote your blog. An email group or mailing list is a great marketing vehicle: you can get in touch with a lot of people who have the same interests as yours, you can find a lot of people who may even have the same attitude as yours, and you can get the word out faster on a product or service that you like. In this same manner, you can get the word out much faster on your blog, and you may be able to spread the word if you know how to talk to people in your email group.

But how do you find the email groups? Here are a few tips that you may want to use as you search for a mailing list that will allow you to talk to a lot of people, keep in touch with people with whom you share interests, and have a lot of fun in promoting your blog! continue reading…

So what is blogging really all about? First of all, let me tell you that it’s a lucrative business to blog and that blogs are easy to set up and manage. Imagine getting paid to write about subjects that interest you, whenever you want, wherever you are! The flexibility allows you to maintain your blog at your own pace and with Internet cafés easily accessible all over the globe, even your vacation won’t get in the way of your blogging… Or should I say: even your blogging won’t get in the way of your vacation?

In this article, let’s take a look at the profitability of a blog and how to set up one of your own, free of charge! Interested? Read on!

First, you need to get yourself a blog. There are several options – host a blog on your own domain, which is in my opinion the best, or get a free one. For starters, let’s talk about the free blogs. You can obtain one at http://www.blogger.com or the newer (and better!) http://www.wordpress.com. Wordpress is a free blog engine that is robust and infinitely expandable to your own tastes.

Blogger is actually owned by Google, so it will be detected by Google’s radar faster and you will be indexed more quickly by their search engines. WordPress.com, however, is a relatively new option so I have no comparison on the speed of getting indexed by the search engines. However, Wordpress is better in the sense that it has more advanced features such as Trackbacks and Categories. You can also manage your sidebar links more efficiently using widgets, (more about this later). continue reading…

E-mail groups can be a rich mine of prospects.  It’s only logical that you do everything you can to make sure that visitors coming in from that source are well taken care of so they will come back to your blog or website again and again.  After all, it probably took you a lot of time and effort to target your leads and tap your network of contacts in order to generate the listing from that e-mail group.  Don’t let it go to waste.  Here are 7 ways you can use to treat visitors that come from e-mail groups and make sure they come back again and again:

1. Have a working website

Nothing could be more frustrating and annoying to a visitor than attempting to get through to a website that hangs or simply freezes.  If you want visitors coming from e-mail groups to stick around or come back, make sure your website or blog delivers.

Check your website for general operability and use.  Do graphics take too long to load?  Perhaps it’s best to switch to an image with a lower resolution or change the images altogether.  Are there dead links?  It’s probably time to do a periodic site repair.  Is the site troublesome?  Perhaps it’s time to overhaul the whole site or switch to an account with your ISP that can accommodate your site’s demands.

2. Make sure your site can handle the traffic

Traffic can be a problem, particularly if you’re on a shared site or free blog.  Ultimately, it all boils down to server and processor limitations, so it’s a good idea to check if your server has the memory and processor capacity to handle a surge of traffic coming from your e-mail groups.  Although blog platforms and most sites are optimized to handle any traffic surges, it’s still best to check. continue reading…

Email opt-in lists are very important. They provide you a legitimate way to keep in touch with your customers, not to mention a way to ensure that you don’t lose them to the competition as well.

Subscription Software

Choose the best software that will allow you to automate the registration process for would-be subscribers. Once you have this up and running, visitors of your blog can automatically opt-in to your email list even without your physical supervision. As the settings for these programs are configurable, it’s up to you to choose whether approval of subscriptions would be automated or manual.

Offer and Link

Use an attention-catching image or decorative text when inviting people to join your email list. Be sure to place it in a prominent area of your homepage. As for other pages, just choose a spot where it’s highly visible and which you could maintain for your entire website.

As for the link, just keep it simple and remember to make regular checks in order to ensure that it’s always in good working order. continue reading…

Assuming that you already know and appreciate the benefits of posting comments on other people’s blogs, here are a few tips to help you choose the best blogs to leave those wonderful comments of yours on.

Similarity in Interest

There is rarely a point to leave a comment on blogs that have nothing at all to do with the main theme of your blog. A direct connection is unnecessary but preferable. If you are, for instance, maintaining a blog on vitamin supplements, you don’t always have to restrict your comments on blogs that tackle the very same topics. You can also visit a beauty blog, for instance, and post comments regarding the benefits that vitamin supplements offer with regard to one’s physical appearance.

A quick way to determine the nature of any blog is by checking out its blog description. If there is none, just browse through its content and see if you’re targeting the same keywords.

Popularity

Likewise, it’s senseless to leave comments on little-known blogs. With such a small readership base, you won’t be able to justify the amount of time and effort it could take you to post the best comments. If you’re going to use comments to promote your blog, it’s better to post them at blogs that are equally popular or more so than yours.

You can use the blog’s page rankings to determine the popularity rating of other blogs and compare it with yours. continue reading…

If you have a blog, then you can count yourself among the thousands of other people on earth who have a blog, who can sell their products and services online, and who find ways to network through friends, former classmates, relatives, even acquaintances, in order to make more money. There are thousands upon thousands of blogs on the Internet right now, and you will need to shine through the muddle of language, or, at the very least, be known to a few well enough in whatever niche you choose to place yourself above the rest.

One way for you to establish your audience is to actually have a niche that you proclaim yourself to be in, and one way for you to do this is to place your blog address in a blog directory. You also have the pick of the litter: you are not limited to placing your blog in a single directory, which is advantageous if you consider how these blog directories have their own audiences whom you might lose if you aren’t meticulous enough.

If you are interested in submitting your blog to a blog directory, make sure that your blog is ready for the viewing. Do not simply place your blog address and then expect people to read half-baked essays, poor stories, or no entries at all. Have a lot of good content to welcome your new and current readers. Moreover, be aware of exactly what keywords your blog will have. continue reading…

Choose the best software that will allow you to automate the registration process for would-be subscribers. There are a couple of good ones available. One is GetResponse and the other is Aweber. Both of these are easy to set up autoresponders.  Once you have this up and running, visitors of your blog can automatically opt-in to your email list even without your physical supervision.
